CONNECTICUT RIVER – Bridge Repairs – A bridge repair project is underway on the Arrigoni Highway Bridge (Route 66) across the Connecticut River in Middletown through the fall of 2022. A working platform/debris shield will reduce the vertical clearance by 10.5 feet throughout the duration of the project. No in water work is planned at this time. CONNECTICUT RIVER – Bridge Repairs – A bridge repair project including blasting, painting, and steel repair operations is underway on the Route 190 Bridge across the Connecticut River at mile 69.1between Enfield and Suffield. This project will be completed by November 27, 2022. All work will be conducted on top of the bridge deck. No in water work is planned at this time. HOUSATONIC RIVER – Notice of Temporary Deviation - The Coast Guard has issued a temporary deviation from the regulation governing the operation of the Washington (US Rte 1) Bridge across the Housatonic River at mile 3.5. The deviation is needed to perform span work at the Washington Bridge. Under this temporary deviation, the Washington Bridge may operate under single leaf openings from April 15, 2022 to October 31, 2022. CONNECTICUT RIVER – Drone Bridge Inspections – From April 12, 2021 to April 16, 2021 between 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., a Drone will be operating at the Baldwin Bridge across Connecticut River at mile 4.0. The drone will be flying under the bridge deck. Mariners requiring full vertical clearance can contact the contractor via marine radio VHF-FM Ch 13/16 or call Jack Casey (860) 930-9897. QUINNIPIAC RIVER – Bridge Construction – Starting March 9, 2020 until December 31, 2021, the City of New Haven will be performing construction activities for the rehabilitation of the Grand Ave Bridge over Quinnipiac River at mile 1.3. The Swing Bridge will remain in the open position the entire duration of the project. Barges and floating dock will occupy one navigational channel leaving the remaining navigational channel open for mariners to transit. All docks and barges will be light with constant red lights for visibility. Mariners with any questions or concerns may contact Project Manager Daniel Butler (860) 250-7128. QUINNIPIAC RIVER- Bridge Closure- Seagull Bridge, mile 3.4, across Quinnipiac River is closed to mariners and is showing signs of structural deterioration. NORWALK RIVER – Bridge Repairs – Starting December 7, 2018 ConnDOT will be performing repairs on the Yankee Doodle Bridge over Norwalk River at mile 0.7. A working platform will be installed beneath the bridge deck, which will reduce the navigational vertical clearance from 60 feet to 56 feet at MHW. There will be a 28’x10’ aluminum workboat tied to the fender system during construction hours, Monday through Friday 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. This work is expected to be completed by June 20, 2023.
